Where to organise your big day? Definitely a good option is to choose one of the best venues: Old Town City Hall or St. Vitus Cathedral, located in Prague Castle. Old Town City Hall offers a pleasant atmosphere and the advantage is its unique location, in the heart of Old Town. Civil and also protestant weddings take place there.

However, if you actually have a spectacular church wedding in mind, you can choose the gothic St. Vitus Cathedral instead. The Sacre Coeur chapel, situated in the quarter of Smíchov, also has a very interesting and intimate atmosphere. The chapel was deconsecrated in 1924 and now serves as a venue hosting exceptional events such as auctions, weddings, exclusive fashion shows and much more.

A Wedding in Flowering Parks and Gardens

Romantic Prague is not only the medieval lanes, Charles Bridge or the view of the Prague Castle panorama, but also Průhonice park. The park, surrounding a neogothic chateau, is a unique example of European garden architecture. It was built in the 19^th century and is a UNESCO sight. Ceremonies are held in the elegant Knight's Hall lined with wooden boarding, right in the heart of the park or in the dendrological garden. The fairytale architectural style and the flowering park with pools will add an exceptionally romantic touch to your wedding ceremony.

Another popular venue hosting non-traditional weddings is the Prague Botanical Garden in Troja, attracting betrothed with its exotic atmosphere. Your wedding ceremony can take place on a terrace by a waterfall, in a tea hut located in the Japanese garden, under a tall sequoia or in a bamboo meadow. An ideal wedding venue is the Vrtbovská garden, situated at the foot of Petřín Hill. It is a French-style garden surrounded by baroque houses that has a unique atmosphere. You may rent both the outdoor and indoor reception space and order catering service. 

Celebrations Accompanied by Wine and Mozart

Would you like to organise a wedding directly in a vineyard with a toast of wine made of grapes growing just a few steps from the place where you say “yes”? That's exactly what is available in the Vineyard Summerhouse with the “Gröbovka” vineyard, located in Havlíčkovy sady in Prague.

A wedding ceremony taking place in the Palace Gardens below Prague Castle might be no less original: the lovely Lesser Town architecture is combined with green nooks, fountains, mysterious stairways and terraces offering fascinating views of the historical centre of Prague.

The local wedding venues include the presentable parterre of the “Ledeburská” garden or the romantic parterre of Palffy's garden, featuring a fountain. More intimate weddings can be held in “Malá Fürstenberská” Garden, featuring a gloriette. However, Prague has many more venues in store with extraordinary historical atmosphere. If you are not much of a fan of historical sights and would prefer to spend your wedding day surrounded by modern architecture, don't worry! More and more design hotels that have recently been established in Prague have gained international recognition and are perfect for a wedding ceremony, feast or your wedding night. Whether you choose the elegant Josef hotel, designed by the architect Eva Jiricna or the unique Moods hotel, very much respecting environmental sustainability, or the colourful and playful design of the Sax hotel, you can bet you will be more than satisfied.

Up in a Tower and the Sky

Prague, the city of a hundred spires, can actually boast thousands of spires and towers. Why don't you plan your wedding in one of them? Larger weddings can be held in Petřín Tower or the Powder Tower, but you can also choose from less known venues with a more intimate atmosphere, such as Old Town Tower, Lesser Town Tower situated on Charles Bridge or the bell tower of St. Nicolas' Church, also located in Lesser Town.

You can also experience a wedding “in the sky”, on the 27^th floor of the City Tower in Prague. Its 109 metres make it the tallest building in the Czech Republic so far. In case you want to escape the crowds, boredom and everyday worries in high style, get married at the airport and head off on your honeymoon straight away! Ruzyně Airport warmly welcomes wedding guests and it was actually the first airport in Europe to host a wedding in premises open to the public. Wedding ceremonies held there include everything you may expect: the modern departure lounge decorated as a traditional wedding venue, showers of flowers, a cake, many guests, delicacies, a white gown, tears and, of course, your romantic “yes”. Right after the ceremony you can catch a flight and embark on your honeymoon, leaving your guests to enjoy the party. Quite convenient, isn't it!

What changed on 28 October?

•  the airport terminals now have new numbers. The present North 1, North 2, South 1, South 2 will change to Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4.

•  there have been changes in the way liquids and gels bought in duty free shops are to be packed. Perfumes, alcohol and other liquids may only be packed in single plastic bags with a barcode. These will be accepted at all security checkpoints at airports across Europe.

•  In accordance with the planned entry of the Czech Republic and eight other states into the Schengen zone, departures and arrivals to and from these countries have been transferred from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. This is being done well in advance; it is expected that passport checks at Terminal 2 will come to an end in March 2008. The change affects the following countries: Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

•  The winter timetable contains direct flights from Prague Ruzyně Airport to 105 cities in 45 countries. New operators at the airport include Ryanair from Ireland, Iberia from Spain and Cimber Air from Denmark.
